If you know me in real life or have read some of my previous blog posts, it's no secret that I struggled with pretty intense postpartum depression during the entire first year after I gave birth to the twins.

After I gave birth to Cam, I was committed to doing whatever I could to keep that to a minimum.

That meant focusing on the basics: drinking plenty of water, taking my vitamins, and keeping an open line of communication with my doctor about my mood. But it also meant intentionally making time for myself—even in small ways.

As a full-time mom of 3 under 3, it goes without saying that I am busy. Arranging childcare to make time for myself is a pain in the ass. And let's be honest: self-care can get also expensive fast.

Somewhere along the way, the idea of self-care became synonymous with spa days, expensive skincare routines, and weekend getaways. While those things sound lovely, they're just not realistic for most moms—myself included.

But I am still committed to making self-care a priority, no matter how busy or broke I might be.

Here are a few affordable self-care products that have genuinely helped me take care of myself during this season of motherhood.

My Top Affordable Self-Care Products

Morning Routine Electrolytes

I start every morning with these electrolytes to avoid feeling totally dehydrated before drinking my coffee and after my first pump of the day.

As someone who is still breastfeeding, I notice a huge difference in how I feel when I stay hydrated. Plus, starting my day with a giant cup of water makes me feel like I at least have one thing together before the chaos begins.

Neck Massager

After having back-to-back pregnancies, my body is completely out of whack.

Between feeding Camden, carrying babies, picking up toddlers, and spending half my life hunched over tiny humans, I constantly end up with a kink in my neck.

This neck massager has honestly been one of my favorite purchases. Is it the same as an actual massage? No.

But can I use it while hiding from my children for ten minutes? Absolutely.

Glue-On Nails

Something about having my nails done just makes me feel like that girl.

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no time to sit in a salon chair every few weeks for a fill, nor do I want to spend that kind of money.

Glue-on nails are one of my favorite mom hacks because they make me feel put together in less than ten minutes, even if I'm currently wearing leggings with mystery stains on them.

Olive & June is my FAVORITE brand because they look just like you got them done in the salon, and they have coordinating polish colors if you want to paint your toes to match your press-ons!

L'Oreal EverPure Leave-In Spray

Before I had kids, I spent an embarrassing amount of money on salon hair products for my color-treated hair.

This drugstore product is not only affordable, but it actually WORKS just as well as anything I ever bought in the salon.

And the smell? OMG. So good. It's one of those little luxuries that makes me feel slightly more human each day.

Daily Vitamins

Given that I am still breastfeeding, I feel a noticeable difference if I skip my vitamins for a few days.

Breastfeeding aside, the chances of you consistently eating balanced meals as a busy mom are honestly pretty low (no shade).

Taking my vitamins every morning is one of the simplest ways I take care of myself and help set myself up for a better day.

Self-Care Doesn't Have to Be Expensive

Self-care for busy moms is possible, and it doesn't have to involve expensive spa days or hours away from your kids.

Sometimes self-care looks like drinking enough water, taking your vitamins, throwing on a fresh set of nails, and spending ten uninterrupted minutes with a neck massager.

Motherhood is demanding. Taking care of yourself matters, too.
