I created this blog in Spring 2024 when I was heavily pregnant with my twins, Jay and Myles.
I’m writing this now in Spring 2026 and, well—a lot has changed.
Since then, we’ve had another beautiful baby boy, Camden. He was a totally unplanned surprise, but truly the most wonderful addition to our family.
But Camden isn’t the reason I went MIA for two years.
Despite the initial excitement this blog gave me, I quickly became completely exhausted and drained during my twin pregnancy. And if I’m being honest, things didn’t magically get better once they arrived.
The first year of being a first-time mom to twins while working full time was… brutal. I won’t sugarcoat it. And for some reason, I decided to really commit to the chaos and exclusively pump for them, too (something I now look back on and think—why did I put that pressure on myself with two babies?).
Between the sleep deprivation, the complete life shift of becoming a mom to two babies at once, and the physical toll of working while making milk for two babies, I developed severe postpartum depression. (Thankfully, I didn’t experience that this time around—huge win.)
On top of that, we lost our dog Murphy unexpectedly to lung cancer at just five years old when the twins were six months old. Navigating that kind of loss, while in the thick of postpartum and one of the busiest work seasons of my life, was something I honestly don’t even know how I got through.
But in a strange way, Camden actually changed everything for me.
When I got pregnant with him, it felt like a fog lifted. The twins were a little older, a little more independent, and I finally started to feel like myself again. My OB told me that can happen with hormonal shifts due to pregnancy—but he also had me start antidepressants anyway (lol).
It was still hard, but something shifted.
Cam’s pregnancy, his birth, and those early weeks at home healed me in a way I don’t even fully have words for.
And that’s saying a lot, because those first few months were not calm.
Within the span of about 11 weeks, I had a severe corneal abrasion (Myles stabbed my eye with a cardboard book during story time), we all got COVID and the flu at the same time, Cam had roseola, and Jay ended up hospitalized for a random hypoglycemic episode. Oh—and Cam has some congenital kidney issues we’re still navigating.
All of that, while we’re in the middle of renovating our attic into a bedroom, bathroom, and loft space… and I’m still working full time.
Life lately has been a lot.
And somehow, despite all of it, I can honestly say I’ve never been happier.
There’s still chaos. There’s still hard days. But I feel like myself again—maybe even more than I did before.
Which brings me back here.
I originally started this blog as a creative outlet (shoutout to my MFM with the twins for that suggestion). Life took over, and it got pushed aside—but I’m finally in a place where I’m ready to come back to it.
And I have a lot to say.
There’s so much I want to process, create, share, and document—from motherhood, to our home, to everything in between. Most importantly, I want to create content that supports moms—wherever they are in their journey—because I know firsthand how much that kind of support can matter. At the end of the day, I’m creating the kind of space I would have wanted to read myself when I was in the thick of it.
I’m really glad you’re here. I can't wait to share it all with you.
Posted from the heart,
Mama Poe
