If you’re exclusively pumping, you already know—finding the right pump can make or break your entire experience. And the worst part? Breast pumps are NONRETURNABLE after the box has been opened.

Sooo I’ve tried… a lot of pumps. Some I loved, some I tolerated, and some I would absolutely not buy again.

Here’s my honest, quick, no-BS breakdown of what actually worked for me.

Top Breast Pump Picks (The Ones I’d Buy Again in a Heartbeat)

This one is a workhorse.

It is STRONG. Like… aggressively strong. But if your body responds well to it, it gets the job done quickly and efficiently.

If you:

  • Need to pump fast

  • Struggle with output

  • Don’t want to sit there forever

This one delivers. I totally empty in 15 minutes. Just be warned—it’s not for the faint of heart. Low and slow is key.

This is hands down my favorite pump I’ve used.

What I love:

  • Battery lasts

  • Quiet (huge for middle of the night pumps, or when you're touched out and want to pump in peace)

  • Pause feature (Baby Buddha does not— drives me crazy)

  • Lightweight (I hate bulky wearables)

  • Higher storage capacity (6 oz!!)

  • Comfortable—gentle but still strong

  • Minimal parts (aka less to wash 🙌)

  • The only pump I’ve truly felt hands-free with

It’s just easy. And when you’re in the thick of postpartum life, easy matters more than anything.

Runner-Ups (Still Really Good)

Think of this as the Baby Buddha’s slightly more chill cousin.

  • Still strong

  • More tolerable suction

  • Portable

If you want Baby Buddha-level output but can’t handle the intensity, this is a really solid option. It’s also way more customizable, and you can run pre-saved programs—which is great once you get into a rhythm.

Not my personal favorite… but I get the hype.

It’s one of those pumps that:

  • works for a LOT of people

  • is reliable

  • is a safe choice if you don’t know where to start

Very much a “can’t go wrong” option—I just personally take a bit longer to empty with it.

Honorable Mentions (Budget-Friendly / Solid Options)

Not the best pump I’ve used—but it gets the job done.

  • More affordable

  • Wearable

  • A lot of moms love it

If you’re not trying to spend a ton, this is a decent option. It’s just not as good as the M6 (in my opinion).

This was actually my first pump, so it holds a special place in my heart.

  • Reliable

  • Strong but still gentle

  • More affordable

Also, Lansinoh as a brand just feels very mom-friendly, which I always appreciated.

Skip It (In My Experience)

This one hurts my heart a little.

I LOVED how I responded to it—amazing output. Honestly one of the best.

…but it broke. Twice. Within 4 months.

So while it worked, it just wasn’t reliable enough for me to recommend. Medela does have great customer service, but the second time it broke, I was on vacation in Florida… so now I have a personal grudge against this pump.

Actually a GREAT wearable pump—but the parts situation?

Too much.

It worked well, but between assembly and cleaning, it just wasn’t worth it for me.

Same issue as the Willow Go, but with added frustration.

  • Even more weird parts

  • App glitches mid-pump

  • CRAZY expensive

  • No buttons (?? why)

Just not something I would reach for again.

This may be a personal choice. It just didn’t work for my body.

The two-phase expression felt… off, and I never responded well to it. Pumping felt more frustrating than productive.

Also—it is LOUD. Like loud enough for my husband to comment on it. Not ideal for middle-of-the-night pumps or when you’re already overstimulated and touched out (which will happen).

That being said, it's affordable, rechargeable, and tons of moms respond well to it.

Final Thoughts (What Actually Matters)

Here’s the thing no one really tells you:

The “best” pump is the one your body responds to and that fits your life.

Not:

  • the most expensive

  • the most popular

  • or the one everyone on TikTok is using

If it’s:

  • easy to use

  • not a pain to clean

  • and actually works for you

That’s the one.

If you’re new to exclusive pumping, I break down everything I wish I knew here:
